Why I Art

My name is Michelle, I have big feelings and I like making things. Creating helps me process, experience and live. Each piece is a part of me, it stems from a feeling, moment, or desire. Even the most irreverent pieces, seemingly light and occasionally pop culture based have some significance in my life. I love colors, miniature things and fake food. I love hidden moments of whimsy among what might be traditionally more serious. I've always been a crafter and a maker, it hasn't been until recently I've dared to call it art (see "Wildflowers").

Why Persephone?

Blame the Greek mythology book I read in seventh grade. I love her light and dark, one cannot exist without the other. I won't get into all the deep aspects of it since this isn't a blog. Nikita captures it best here.

"Her story is not just crimson pomegranates,
all of the splendour of spring bends to her will.
But this floral maiden also sends shudders of fear
with one delicate footstep through all of hell." - Nikita Gill

Do you suppose she's a wildflower?

The flowers that ask this and seemingly look down Alice as if they are more refined. Art is art, the wilder the better. I love it all.
